Projects from EU

Short trips abroad with awesome people completely for free? No, it´s not a fake! These projects are usually organised by some local NGO in your country and everyone up to 30 years old can apply and participate!

Projects last mostly 5-10 days, are held in some countries that are members of the European union. However, I saw some even in Ukraine Armenia, Israel or Georgia. The goal of these projects are aimed to try to solve some problems currently occuring in the EU. For example youth unemployment, drugs, entrepreneurship opportunities for youngsters, green economics, violance amongs youngsters etc.

The NGO covers all the travel expenses from your home to the place of  the project. Also, the accommodation, food and the program of the project is taken care of by the host organisation (usually also some NGO). Moreover, you happen to meet and work with the same-minded people from all over the Europe, visit some nice places and use/master your skills (communication, organisation, creativity, managment...).

What´s the process before?

You apply for the free place for some specific project and write your motivation, why you should be chosen, why is the topic interesting for you, what skills and abilities you can use etc. Also, your previous work/study experience are relevant in terms of what you´ve learna dn might use during the project (team work, organizational work, creativity, communication skills etc.)

The project itself

The NGO organises the pick-up at the airport and transfer to the place of the happening. First day is mostly about getting to know every participants, the topic introduction, introduction of the methods (workshops, presenations, games, energizers), the surroundings, breaks, meals, accommodation.. Also the host organisation presents something about their work, mission, successes etc. Accommodation might vary from the NGO to NGO. I lived in a hotel, but also in small cottages. Meals are three times a day. Daily program is usually divided into sessions with big breaks. One of the key method is tram work. I worked within teams for most of the time. And I find it great! You have an uniques opportunity to observe different perspectives from people from different countries/background or study fields and interest. Thus, you´ve got so much to learn and perceive!
