Brno Blabla Language Exchanges
...speak many languages, meet new friends and enjoy the international atmospehere
What´s the idea behind it?
It´s very simple! The main purpose of these events is to bring international people together, practice foreign languages, meet new friends and enjoy a relaxing and joyful evenings within a multiculture atmosphere!
Why did I start with these events?
After I kinda settled down in CZE again, I started to perceive a feeling, that I miss an international atmosphere, multiculture meet-ups and its spirit. So I begun to be interested in how I can do something for it in Brno. Something that would be my activity in my leasure time, would bring the international people together, have a fun and have a feeling eventeually, that people benefit from taking part in it.
Eevntually I came up with an idea to hold the Language exchanges on regular basis - once a month. What does it actually mean? Well, there are many internationals here in Brno who´d like to practise not only the czech language, but also either to speak their mother language or also to learn/improve new ones. Of course, you might say there are plenty of language schools and institues. Sure, but this meetings are completely for free and, most importantly, they are totally natural. You aren´t sitting in the class and learning grammar according to the textbook or whatever the lector brings for you. You simply come to this meeting, stick the flag(s) on your t-shirt referring to the language you wanna practise, mix with other people and start talking. English is always the base for everyone, though. You really don´t have to be shy. Nobody points out your mistakes, nobody checks your pronunciation. You just freely communicate and natually eliminate your shyness and fear of doing mistakes. Pleasnant benefit it to build friendly relationships and to meet new people.
The events are held in part Lužánky in spring/summer and in Chillárna(pub) in autumn/winter.
As for me, I am happy to hold these events for the people. It makes me feel good to see they´re having fun and improving their both language and social skills. It´s the best feedback, when people come to me during the event from time to time and thank me for the this opportunity to meet new people and practise languages in such a natural atmosphere. Not only do they practise the languages, but also they might get their range of knowledge wider as they may have the same problems and go through the same issues and challenges. Simply put, they all have something in common and, thus, can only benefit from each other.
So, do not be shy and let´s meet in another session!
And how does the meet-up actually work?
Meet-ups have basically no program. You come and say Hi to the first person you see. So it´s really OK when you arrive alone. Many participats come actually alone. And that´s the beauty of it. You meet new people naturally!
We´re bunch of friendly and easy-going people with the same intention - to practise our language skills, meet new people and enjoy the evening in the international atmosphere. We usually have a name-tag on the T-shirts and small flag stickers that indicate languages you want to practise.
Meet-ups have very low-key atmosphere! We play board games, drink something tasty from the bar and chat about everything. And if your skills aren´t the best yet? No worries at all! No one checks your grammar or fluency. Everyone makes mistakes and that´s why we come together and have the same goal!
